// ARCHE POP UP SHOP - 11/1-14 - BROOKLYN, NY //

This Fall, Rouge 58 will present The Arche, a pop up boutique running for two weeks only, combining emerging talent and established designers in both fashion and jewelry. This inaugural installment will reflect the dark minimalism that has become an essential element of New York style. Playing on the industrial space of the gallery, clothes will be displayed suspended at different lengths from chains, whilst jewelry will be displayed hanging from a pillar in the middle of the store using satin ties and encased in a jewelry box.

The Arche is a collaboration between Nadja Nebas, owner of Rouge 58, and New York fashion photographer Chris Reed - the duo recognized that what was lacking was an innovative platform to showcase brands respected by their community and deemed as influential in the underground scene. Adopting the word ‘arche’, referencing Greek philosophy that derives from the archaic period, it’s meaning lies in the root, the origin, the source. As a new pop up entity aimed to kick start burgeoning young designers, the name was apt and held resonance.

JULY 15 // FACTORY NIGHT @ BLACKOUT BAR // NYC

Next week a new party I am starting with my friends SECRET PUBLIC will be having a soft launch on July 15 at Blackout Bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. It's called "FACTORY NIGHT"- featuring music from The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, The Cure, and other New Wave, Post Punk, New Romantic, + Goth Pop bands.

The night will feature DJ/Artist Lacee Swan and Host/Photographer Chris Reed. We have Marcus Harris all the way from London DJing the night as well. If I weren't out of the town next week I would be djing at this shin dig too!

There is no cover and of course, it's 21+.

If you've never been to Blackout Bar before, which is owned by the same people that run NY boutique chain OAK, it is an amazing bar inside. It's got the darkness and mystery of a dive bar without the sketchyness. If you're into a Gothic, Depression-era, Art Deco aesthetic - then Blackout is your bar du jour.

Here is a little video I made for the night as well. Feel free to e-mail it to your friends, post it up on your TUMBLR, make it your new FB status, etc.

// BOXING KITTEN - RESORT 2010 Collection //

Last Thursday, my best friend Emily at Pitch Control PR invited me to Boxing Kitten's Resort 2010 Collection Launch in New York City. The event was held at the very charming Etnies Rooftop in Soho. The weather was sunny and mild, perfect for any outdoor event. Just about everything about the party was charming to the max. Boxing Kitten's collection was on display by a row of live models on faux lawn grass for patrons and photographers to go ga-ga over.

Chris Reed, Susie G, and Katja Hentschel.

The label's theme of the party and the resort collection seemed to draw influence from the aesthetic of early 60s American Suburban lawn parties. The bar stand was in a Tiki hut, a few folks were wearing flower lays, colorful string lights decorated around the DJ Booth, and there was even jiggly Jell-O molds being served! Blast from the past indeed! I also got to enjoy a great, glowing pink cocktail courtesy of Belvedere Vodka and VitaminWater.

Belvedere Vodka + VitaminWater = Cocktail Win

One of my favorite pop songstresses Estelle was there too, and I got a little starstruck I might say. I once worked for an internationally known retailer in Boston, and all they would play was Estelle and Kanye West's "American Boy" - hence, I became a fan of Estelle since then. The decor, the collection, the guests - it was all a great mix of casual and elegance, Americana and tribal, and modern meets vintage.

Estelle + Models = Boxing Kitten Win

Today, it seems that a lot of collections and lines are being inspired by the days of yesteryear. Except Boxing Kitten takes cuts and forms from the past to infuse them with eye-catching tribal prints that don't scream at you, but more like playfully cheer at you to leave a grin on your face and just put you in a good mood. After seeing this collection, all I want to know is where can I get a piece or two, and when is the next collection coming out?
